This all began with an experience my mom will never forget.

A loved one went to a doctor’s appointment alone — something so many of us do without thinking twice. She expected a routine visit. Instead, she was told she was very sick.

She walked out in shock, trying to process life-changing news by herself. By the time she got home, most of the conversation was gone. No clear memory of what the doctor said. No next steps. Just fear, confusion, and a quiet, heavy loneliness.

Witnessing that changed my mom.

Not our parents. Not our grandparents. Not anyone.
